The Shinscrapers are edging close to their target. On July 10th, at White Stone near High Newton, Alan Wilson and Mick Fox added route no. 76 - Cracked Wall, a rather tough Mild VS, climbed in glorious evening sunshine. "It was even to hot and sunny for the midges!"

Here is Alan about to tackle the crux section of the route.

Route 83 was 'Original Route' on Raven Crag, Great Langdale. This photo is from the third belay on that route, perched on tiny ledges about 100 feet above safe ground. .

In the photo: Mick Fox's knee, Alan Wilson climbing, and Mike Palk belaying.

The job's done but they are going to keep recording the climbs for the rest of the year.

Summer Wine Team work at High House
A team of members have been hard at work at High House preparing the end of the large downstairs dormitory (the Mens End) for the installation of the new fire escape door
The old shed has been moved and the ground levelled in preparation for the new fire door
The archaeology (Time Team dig)is all covered with protective sand, and the sand is nearly covered with mixed stuff from the 'midden'.

The team also installed a new drainage (gully, pipework, soakaway) from the Men's End, and started to turf the area
